Thompson Speedway Reschedules Sunoco World Series Due to Weather
Thompson Speedway officials announced today a significant revision to the schedule for the 63rd annual Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing, consolidating Sunday’s events into a “Super Saturday” due to an unfavorable weather forecast.
The Friday schedule will remain as originally planned, but Saturday will now feature racing across ten divisions, culminating in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour feature. This change aims to ensure all scheduled races are completed despite the predicted inclement weather. The Sunoco World Series is a cornerstone event for short-track racing in the Northeast, drawing competitors and fans from across the region.
“With the impeding forecast, we tried to make sure everyone would have time to alter plans to get to the speedway,” said ACT managing partner Cris Michaud. “We thought this was a nice way to end off the season with one big mega day of racing. We certainly didn’t want to cancel or eliminate any divisions.” Updated ticket pricing reflects the schedule change: $40 for Friday pit access, $60 for Saturday, and a two-day pit pass for $90. Grandstand tickets are $25 for Friday, $55 for Saturday, and $75 for both days. You can find complete Thompson Speedway ticket information on their website.
Pit gates will open at 7 a.m. ET on Saturday, with practice beginning at 9:00 a.m. and racing starting promptly at 12:30 p.m. Officials encourage attendees to check the National Weather Service for the latest forecast updates.
Officials stated they will continue to monitor the weather and provide updates as needed.
