19-Year-Old Killed in Head-On Collision on Columbus’ Southeast Side
A 19-year-old Columbus man died yesterday after his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a pickup truck on the city’s Southeast Side, prompting an ongoing investigation.
Rashard Brown, of Columbus, was pronounced dead at 5:19 p.m. at OhioHealth Grand Medical Center after the 4:38 p.m. crash at the intersection of East Innis and Kelton avenues. According to a police report, Brown was driving eastbound on East Innis Avenue in a 2018 Honda Civic when he drifted left of center and struck a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound. The driver of the Silverado was transported to the same hospital in stable condition.
This incident highlights the dangers of distracted or impaired driving, a continuing concern for local traffic safety. The Columbus police Accident Investigation Unit is currently investigating the circumstances that led to Brown crossing the center line.
