Kendra Pierre-Louis Named Interim Host of Scientific American’s ‘Science Quickly’
Climate reporter Kendra Pierre-Louis will take over hosting duties for the science podcast ‘Science Quickly’ while Rachel Feltman is on parental leave until spring of 2026.
The transition was announced today, November 10, 2025, on the podcast itself, with Feltman introducing Pierre-Louis to listeners. Pierre-Louis, a veteran climate journalist with nearly a decade of experience, previously worked at Popular Science alongside Feltman. She is known for her in-depth reporting and a particularly strong aversion to mayonnaise, a subject she explored in a widely-read article for Popular Science examining the science of food texture and perception.
“I’m a climate reporter, like, mostly by training,” Pierre-Louis stated during the podcast. She also noted her broader interest in exploring the psychology of fame and the factors that contribute to people normalizing harmful situations. Her work often intersects with behavioral science, a field gaining increasing attention as researchers seek to understand public responses to complex issues like behavioral science.
Pierre-Louis plans to continue covering public health, explore the science behind extremism, and include lighter topics like animal stories during her interim role. The change in hosts comes at a time when science communication is increasingly vital for informing public discourse and policy decisions. Feltman indicated she will return to hosting in the spring of 2026, and Pierre-Louis will be focusing on upcoming episodes including a discussion of “griefbots,” or AI designed to help people cope with loss.
