The Czech gaming industry is experiencing significant growth, with SCS Software leading the charge. The company, founded by the Šebor brothers, secured the 70th position in the Seznam Zprávy’s ranking of the 100 most valuable Czech companies, with a valuation of 7.4 billion Czech crowns. This marks the first time SCS Software has surpassed its competitor, Bohemia Interactive, known for its military-themed games and simulators.
Bohemia Interactive followed closely behind, landing at 72nd place with a valuation of 7.3 billion Czech crowns. While SCS Software’s CEO, Pavel Šebor, declined to comment on the achievement to avoid potential rivalry within the industry, Bohemia Interactive expressed a pragmatic view of the shift in rankings.
“Congratulations to our colleagues at SCS. It’s fantastic to see Czech gaming companies thriving,” said Marek Španěl, CEO of Bohemia Interactive, to SZ Byznys. “We’re looking forward to seeing how this year unfolds. Bohemia Interactive is poised for its most successful year yet, with revenues projected around two billion Czech crowns. The industry is increasingly driven by major hits, and our primary focus is on creating them.”
Both companies demonstrated strong performance in 2024, suggesting continued growth potential. Bohemia Interactive reported revenues of 1.4 billion Czech crowns in 2024, while SCS Software’s revenues rose to approximately 1.3 billion Czech crowns with a profit of nearly 600 million Czech crowns, according to Forbes magazine.

“Both companies are strong. SCS has a long-established, stable business model – they maintain two key games and continue to expand them. Bohemia Interactive has a much broader portfolio, taking a riskier approach by developing entirely new titles. SCS’s conservative approach leads to greater stability, while Bohemia Interactive can experience larger fluctuations, especially if a game like Arma 4 is successful,” explains Pavel Barák, Chairman of the Association of Czech Game Developers.
The fourth installment in the Arma series is slated for release on PC and gaming consoles in 2027, and the company is currently working diligently on it at its headquarters near Mníšek pod Brdy. Seznam Zprávy visited the area this summer, showcasing a functional tank and motion capture studio.
SCS Software and Bohemia Interactive have long been among the most successful companies in the Czech industry. However, they aren’t the only businesses raising the profile of this sector globally. The biggest Czech gaming hit of 2025 wasn’t from either of these firms, but from the sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance by Warhorse Studios.

Their camp was attacked by bandits, who massacred Jan Ptáček’s company, forcing the knight and his page to hide in the reeds. All it took was one bandit to spot them, and both ended up among the dead on the shore.
This scene comes from Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, which launched in February 2025. It’s the largest Czech title, selling over 3 million copies and vying for the title of Game of the Year 2025 at The Game Awards. If successful, it would be the first Czech game to achieve this honor.
As Warhorse Studio’s creative director Daniel Vávra told SZ Byznys shortly after the game’s release, demand for KCD 2 was so high that the studio recouped its 1 billion Czech crown development costs within 24 hours of launch.
“We put a lot of effort into making the game look better in every way. I’m very focused on the visual aspect, and the graphic dimension of the game is important to me. We succeeded, and even the cutscenes look better, including the editing, lighting, acting, and direction. That’s what I think is the most significant change,” explained Warhorse Studio’s creative director in an interview.
Czech studios have consistently performed well. The industry’s total turnover in 2024 was around 6.5 billion Czech crowns, an increase of approximately one billion crowns compared to 2023. According to Barák, the biggest shock to the Czech industry this year came with the release of the second installment of Kingdom Come, and he expects the industry’s turnover in 2025 to be higher than in previous years.
“The current year, as it nears its end, has been very successful from the perspective of the largest studios. Several key titles were released, including, of course, Kingdom Come. It looks like the industry will continue to grow, and this year will surpass the previous one. The long-term problem for the domestic industry isn’t among the largest players, but from the perspective of startups, for whom it’s difficult to stand out among established companies like SCS Software and Bohemia Interactive,” adds the Chairman of the Association of Czech Game Developers.
