Several online game services will soon be discontinued, impacting players of titles like the action RPG Anthem and the sports game NBA Live 19. Publishers Electronic Arts and Plaion have announced plans to shut down these games throughout January 2026, a move reflecting the increasing financial pressures of maintaining live-service games and older titles. These closures will render purchased games unplayable and, in the case of Anthem, erase progress toward in-game achievements for a dedicated player base.
Several online games will be losing server support in early 2026, including the ambitious, though ultimately troubled, action RPG Anthem and the sports title NBA Live 19. Electronic Arts (EA) and Plaion are the publishers making the decisions to shut down these titles.

Anthem, Warlander, and NBA Live 19 will all cease operations throughout January 2026. Anthem, the 2019 release from BioWare, will become unplayable on January 12, 2026, with no offline mode available to players. All 46 of the game’s achievements will become unattainable after that date. Plaion’s multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) title, Warlander, will follow suit on January 20, 2026, with its 14 achievements also becoming locked. NBA Live 19 will also be affected, though multiplayer achievements have been inaccessible for months. While other achievements remain technically available, completing the game to 100% is no longer possible for new players.
Players have a limited time remaining to access these online services before they are permanently discontinued between January 12th and January 30th, 2026. The closures reflect the ongoing challenges of maintaining live-service games and the economic realities of supporting older titles.
