Los Angeles Gas Prices Continue to Fall, Dropping to $4.69 a Gallon
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased for the ninth time in 10 days today, reaching $4.69, offering some relief to commuters and drivers.
According to data from AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the average price has fallen 3.9 cents over the past 10 days. In Orange County, the average price dropped to $4.662, marking the fourth consecutive decrease. These price reductions come as Southern California prepares for the switch to a less expensive “winter blend” of gasoline on November 1st.
Nationally, gas prices are also trending downward, with the average price dropping to $3.051 today after decreasing for 15 of the last 16 days. “Southern California gasoline supplies appear to be in good shape as we get closer to Nov. 1, when gas stations will be allowed to start selling the less expensive `winter blend’ of gasoline,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager. You can find more information about gasoline prices and trends at the AAA Gas Prices website.
While prices remain higher than this time last year, the recent declines represent a significant shift from the record highs seen in October 2022, when prices peaked at $6.493 in Los Angeles County and $6.458 in Orange County. Understanding factors influencing gasoline prices can help consumers anticipate future fluctuations.
Officials anticipate continued price adjustments as the winter blend becomes widely available, potentially offering further savings for drivers.
