Rome – Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano is proposing a bold solution for the future of the Teatro delle Vittorie in Rome: enlisting conductor Beatrice Venezi to lead a new “Sinfonico” (Symphonic Theater) at the venue, according to reports.

The proposal comes amid discussions about the potential sale of the historic theater, as la Repubblica reported on April 28, 2026. The Minister suggested the purchase of the theater by the government, with Venezi at the helm, as a way to preserve its cultural significance.

“If we manage to create a Sinfonico Theater, Beatrice Venezi will be the director,” Sangiuliano stated, as reported by Adnkronos. This proposal follows a recent provocation from the Minister, who suggested the government could buy the theater and place Venezi in charge.

The Teatro delle Vittorie has also been the subject of debate regarding the fate of the “Techetechetè” television archive, with concerns raised about the potential loss of Italy’s television history, as Radio Radicale reported on April 28, 2026. The potential sale and repurposing of the theater have sparked a wider conversation about the preservation of cultural institutions in Italy.

Stefano Graziano discussed the future of the Teatro delle Vittorie in an interview with ANSA on April 28, 2026.
