The current trial revealed that 19% of patients experienced this change, and some analyses even showed the presence of two different types of cancer simultaneously, suggesting the potential for combining two drugs to achieve the best possible response.

Technologies for Other Cancers

The technology behind the test, which centers on DNA analysis, isn’t limited to breast cancer. Experts believe it could serve as a foundation for a new suite of tests to help doctors manage other cancers by detecting early changes in tumors and signals of drug resistance.

The initial findings, presented at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, were based on the analysis of 191 blood samples from patients participating in five clinical trials. Scientists are now preparing for a long-term follow-up phase to assess the test’s impact on survival rates and the quality of care within the British National Health Service.
