Italian game development studio 34BigThings has launched Carmageddon: Rogue Shift, the latest iteration of the notoriously violent racing series. The game, known for its over-the-top crashes and disregard for pedestrian safety, arrives as a new entry in a genre increasingly focused on realistic physics and simulation.
Available now on Steam for $39.99 (currently on sale for $35.99 with a 10% discount), Carmageddon: Rogue Shift isn’t an early access title, but the developers have already outlined a roadmap of upcoming updates indicating the game is still under active development.
Future Updates Planned
A “Day 0 Patch” has already been released to address initial issues reported by players. The development team plans to release Patch 1 approximately 30 days after launch, followed by Patch 2 around 60 days post-launch, with specific dates to be announced later. This phased approach to updates is common in modern game development, allowing for community feedback to shape the final product.
Accompanying the game’s release is a new gameplay trailer showcasing the chaotic action players can expect.
Patch 1, nicknamed “Fix-It-Tony,” will focus on resolving the most pressing bugs and glitches identified by the community. In addition to bug fixes, the update will introduce the Bonnet Cam, adding another perspective option for players.
Patch 2 will introduce Challenge Mode, designed for experienced players who have mastered the campaign and all available vehicles. This mode will incorporate modifiers to increase the difficulty, including tougher opponents, limited resources, no second chances, and a more demanding driving simulation.
The developers are also working on adding support for racing wheels, such as the Logitech G29 and Thrustmaster T598, enhancing the immersive experience for sim racing enthusiasts.
