Minnesota Cross Country Teams Compete at Pre-Nationals and Nuttycombe Invitational
The University of Minnesota men’s and women’s cross country teams will split competition this weekend, with the men traveling to Columbia, Missouri, for the Pre-Nationals Invitational and the women heading to Madison, Wisconsin, for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on October 17.
The women’s schedule begins today at 10:30 a.m. CT with an unattached race at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course in Wisconsin, followed by the men’s 8K race in Missouri at 10:45 a.m. CT. The Women’s 6K Championship in Wisconsin is slated for 11:50 a.m. CT. Both events will be live streamed; the Nuttycombe Invite will be available on RunnerSpace, and the Pre-Nationals meet on ESPN+.
The Pre-Nationals Invitational will feature a competitive field including No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 19 Missouri, and No. 22 Arkansas on the men’s side. The Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational boasts No. 2 NC State, No. 5 New Mexico, and No. 7 Notre Dame among the participating women’s teams. This weekend’s results are crucial as teams prepare for the upcoming Big Ten Championships and NCAA postseason competition.
At their last competition, the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on October 3, the Minnesota men finished third while the women placed eighth. Aidan Jones led the men, finishing 14th overall, and Nadia Phillips paced the women, finishing 29th. The ‘U’ will conclude the regular season at Rocky’s Run on October 24.
