The fifth-seeded duo overcame Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic and Indonesia’s Janice Tjen in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, and 10-3, on the hard courts of the WTA 1000 series event. This victory continues a strong showing for the pair at the tournament.
Dabrowski and Stefani will next face Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos and American Jessica Pegula, who earned their quarterfinal berth by upsetting the second-seeded team of Belgium’s Elise Mertens and China’s Shuai Zheng in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
In men’s action, Canada’s Gabriel Diallo (No. 39) will face Australia’s Adam Walton (No. 93) in the first round of the Delray Beach, Florida, tennis tournament later today. It will be the first career ATP Tour-level match between the two players.
