Local Golfers Davis and Snipes Compete at OHSAA Southwest District Tournament

Two area high school golfers, Ryland Davis and Jaxon Snipes, concluded their seasons today with performances at the OHSAA Southwest District Tournament, showcasing promising talent from Urbana and Indian Lake.

Ryland Davis, a junior from Urbana, delivered a standout round of 76, narrowly missing qualification for the OHSAA Division II State Championship. Entering the tournament as the fourth individual qualifier from his sectional, Davis exceeded expectations with one of his best performances of the year. “Ryland really shocked the tournament,” said Head Coach Thomas Russell. “He played one of his best rounds under pressure, and while the result didn’t go our way, this is absolutely one to hang your hat on.” Strong showings at the district level are often key indicators of future state-level success for young athletes.

Jaxon Snipes, a senior from Indian Lake, finished with a score of 89. While not enough to advance to the state tournament, it represented a consistent end to a strong season. “Jaxon’s season was defined by steady improvement and leadership,” noted Head Coach Nick Tucci. “He’s been a key part of the team, and we’re proud of the way he finished.” You can find more information about OHSAA Golf on their official website.

The OHSAA State Golf Championships are scheduled for next week, and while neither Davis nor Snipes will be participating this year, their performances signal a bright future for golf in the region. For details on local high school sports, visit Urbana City Schools.

Coaches Russell and Tucci expressed optimism about the continued development of both players and the overall growth of their respective golf programs.
