Genesee Health System Offers Walk-In Mental Health Support in Grand Blanc

Genesee Health System (GHS) will provide walk-in mental health support at the Grand Blanc-McFarlen Library next week, responding to community needs following recent events.

Starting Monday, October 6th, and continuing through Friday, October 17th, support will be available Monday through Thursday from Noon to 8 p.m., and Friday from Noon to 5 p.m. at the library in Grand Blanc Township. GHS stated the initiative aims to support Genesee County families and the community during a difficult time, acknowledging the profound emotional impact incidents like the recent shooting can have on individuals and the wider area.

Individuals experiencing a mental health crisis can access immediate help by calling Genesee Health System at (810) 257-3740 or by texting GHS to WEGOTU (934688) for 24/7 free behavioral health crisis triage, support, resources, and referrals to local services. Access to mental health resources is particularly crucial in the wake of traumatic events, as studies by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration demonstrate.

For questions or further information, GHS can be reached at 810-240-8951 or via email at GHScommunications@genhs.org. You can find additional mental health resources available in Genesee County here.

GHS officials say they will continue to monitor community needs and adjust support services accordingly.
