Jacksonville University Men’s Soccer Falls to UAB in Close Contest

The Jacksonville University men’s soccer team suffered a 3-2 defeat against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) yesterday evening at PNC Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

UAB took an early lead with goals from Lucas Rizzo at the 11:29 mark and Patrik Fagan at 39:36. Jacksonville responded before halftime with a goal from Matias Tobon at 42:58, assisted by Christian Lindtner Wahlstroem, narrowing the gap to 2-1. The Blazers extended their lead in the 83rd minute with a goal from Ole Jessen, assisted by Tony Kim and Humphrey Doh, making the score 3-1.

The Dolphins mounted a quick response, as Dante Wright scored an unassisted goal in the 86th minute, bringing the score to 3-2. Despite outshooting UAB 17-10 for the game, including 11-5 in the second half, Jacksonville was unable to find the equalizer. Goalkeeper Simen Havig recorded three saves for the Dolphins.
