‘Witchlore’ Authors Open to On-Screen Adaptation, Hint at Possible Return to St. Cyprian

The authors behind the popular romantasy series “Witchlore” are actively seeking opportunities to adapt their completed four-book saga for television or film, and haven’t ruled out revisiting the world they created.

The series, written under the pen name Hazel Beck by Megan Crane and Nicole Helm, concluded with “Dragon Fires Everywhere” in September. Having the complete story now available makes it “a better pitch,” according to Crane. “We’d love to have feelers out to have more conversations, absolutely.” The success of book-to-screen adaptations has increased dramatically in recent years, making this a potentially lucrative venture for the authors.

While open to either a film or television series, Crane believes the intricate details of the story lend themselves more naturally to a TV format. “As one of the writers of the book, there’s so many details that, to me, seems to translate more to a TV show,” she said. The series follows characters Emerson, Rebekah, Ellowyn, and Georgie in their battle against the Joywood coven, set in the fictional town of St. Cyprian, Missouri. Crane and Helm are currently working on a new two-book series, beginning with “Some Kind of Haunted,” scheduled for release in fall 2026. Helm described the upcoming series as a “cozy-horror romance” that will retain the found family and small-town atmosphere that resonated with “Witchlore” fans. Despite the shift in genre, the authors emphasized a continued focus on community, similar to the themes explored in their previous work, as detailed in a recent Goodreads series overview. However, Crane added, “I don’t know that we will say goodbye, actually…it’s just part of us now.”

The authors indicated they remain open to future projects set in the world of St. Cyprian, even without immediate plans for further “Witchlore” books.
