De Jong-Rutten’s diagnosis was made public earlier this year, and he courageously documented his experience with the disease on social media, garnering widespread support from fans and colleagues. The Real Housewives of Amsterdam team is mourning the loss of their editor, Raymon de Jong-Rutten, who passed away on Saturday, November 29th, at the age of 35 following a battle with pancreatic cancer. “We will carry him in our hearts forever,” the cast shared in a statement.

The cast members announced the news on Sunday via Instagram, expressing their profound sadness. “Dear, dear Ray’ke, despite knowing this moment would eventually come, the news has deeply affected us.”

Earlier this year, the team revealed that de Jong-Rutten had been diagnosed with an incurable form of pancreatic cancer in late 2023. The disease ultimately proved fatal. “He was a constant presence among us, understanding, empathetic, and endlessly patient. He filled every room with warmth, positivity, and good cheer. Open About Illness

De Jong-Rutten had openly documented his journey with the illness on his personal Instagram account, sharing updates with his followers. His final post read, “Raymon Cornelis Maria de Jong-Rutten, 35 years old, passed away on Saturday, November 29th, surrounded by his loved ones.”

“He fought like a lion and lived like a king. Ray reminded us how precious life is, especially when you feel like you’re losing it. ‘Don’t take life for granted.’ And we won’t.”

A Career Highlight

In September, de Jong-Rutten announced on his account that he was ceasing treatment. “Now that I’ve decided to stop treatment, I feel paralyzed. Although we knew time was running out, we all feel like this time it’s different. All I can do is watch every second pass. But with the choice I’ve made, enduring it is all I can do.”

The cast responded with grief to the news and launched a campaign to honor their friend. They urged their followers to vote for the show to win the Golden Televizier Ring, a prestigious Dutch television award. “Winning would be a crowning achievement for us, and especially for Ray. Let’s consider this a tribute to Ray, who always strengthened our sense of togetherness and creativity.” Unfortunately, the program did not win this year. The outpouring of support highlights the growing trend of public figures using social media to share personal health journeys, fostering connection and awareness.
