European Uncoated Kraft Liner Market Projected to Reach $9.4 Billion by 2035

The European market for uncoated kraft liner is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 0.9% in volume and 1.0% in value, reaching 14 million tons and $9.4 billion by 2035, according to a new report published today by IndexBox.

In 2024, consumption of uncoated kraft liner in Europe totaled 12 million tons, valued at $8.4 billion, a slight decrease from the previous year’s peak. Germany, the United Kingdom, and France were the largest consumers, accounting for 42% of the total volume. Sweden recorded the highest per capita consumption at 48 kg, and also experienced the fastest consumption growth rate. This growth in demand reflects the continued importance of sustainable packaging solutions across the continent.

Production in Europe reached 13 million tons in 2024, led by Russia, Sweden, and France. While overall production remained stable compared to 2023, Finland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter, with a remarkable 18.6% CAGR in export volume from 2013 to 2024. Imports fell sharply by 18.2% to 3.5 million tons, and exports decreased by 14.5% to 4.1 million tons. Average import prices in Europe were $735 per ton in 2024, while export prices averaged $708 per ton.
