Fargo Man Charged with Murder in Shooting Death of Father-to-Be
A 26-year-old Fargo man is in custody following the fatal shooting of another man Monday night, a case police believe may be linked to a separate shooting earlier this month.
Nadin Khoury, 28, died after being found with multiple gunshot wounds in the stairwell of an apartment complex in the 2700 block of 41st Street South around 9:27 p.m. yesterday, according to Fargo Police Captain Matt Christensen. Levi Larteh, 26, was booked into the Clay County Jail on murder charges just after 1 p.m. today, less than 24 hours after the shooting. Larteh was arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at a gas station in Barnesville.
Police say Khoury and Larteh knew each other, though the exact nature of their relationship remains under investigation. Khoury was not a resident of the building where he was shot, and authorities have stated there is no indication of gang involvement. Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski described the death as “another true tragedy in our community,” noting Khoury leaves behind a pregnant wife and family. This incident adds to a concerning rise in gun violence stemming from personal disputes in the city. Zibolski urged anyone aware of escalating conflicts to contact the police department to prevent further tragedies, stating, “This homicide and homicides from Aug. 3 were all preventable if people in our community had the regulation and emotional intelligence not to resort to firearms to solve their disputes.”
Investigators are currently running bullet casings recovered from both this shooting and a separate incident on October 24th in the 4800 block of 38th Street South through ballistics testing to determine if they are connected. The FBI offers resources on active shooter and mass casualty incidents, highlighting the broader national concern with gun violence. Further investigation is underway, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward; you can find more information about reporting tips on the Fargo Police Department website.
Authorities continue to investigate and expect to release more information as it becomes available.
