Indiana Men’s Basketball Unranked in First AP Top 25 Poll of 2025 Season
Indiana men’s basketball will begin its season under new head coach Darian DeVries without a national ranking, as revealed in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released today.
The Hoosiers received a single vote from the 61-member voting committee, placing them among 20 teams receiving votes but well behind the top 25. Indiana finished 19-13 last season and missed the NCAA tournament, leading to the coaching change and a significant roster overhaul. This lack of preseason recognition underscores the challenge DeVries faces in rebuilding the program.
Six Big Ten teams landed in the Top 25: No. 1 Purdue, No. 7 Michigan, No. 12 UCLA, No. 17 Illinois, No. 22 Michigan State, and No. 24 Wisconsin. This is the second time in four years Indiana has started the season unranked. The team will begin its season with exhibition games against Marian University on October 17 and Baylor University on October 26, giving fans an early look at the revamped roster and DeVries’ system.
