LaundryCares Foundation and Vooks Partner to Provide Free Digital Books to Children
The LaundryCares Foundation and Vooks announced today a new partnership to provide 100,000 free subscriptions to animated, read-aloud children’s books for families accessing early literacy resources in laundromats and community centers.
Through this collaboration, Vooks’ library of narrated storybooks will be integrated into LaundryCares’ existing early literacy programs, offering high-quality reading experiences to children while their families are completing everyday tasks. Vooks provides a kid-safe, ad-free environment with subtle animation and highlighted text designed to foster engagement and literacy skills. This initiative aims to address literacy gaps, particularly in communities with limited access to books, and builds upon the growing recognition of the importance of early childhood education.
“We are deeply grateful to Vooks for their generosity and for partnering with us to bring the magic of storytelling into everyday spaces,” said a representative from the LaundryCares Foundation. “Their support helps us advance our mission of early literacy by making books accessible to children — wherever they may be.” Joey Jenkins, Chief Executive Officer of Vooks, stated, “Vooks is proud to join forces with LaundryCares to make literacy more accessible — because stories should meet children wherever they are.” Families and organizations participating in LaundryCares programs will receive access codes and instructions for using Vooks, and the platform will be featured at upcoming LaundryCares Free Literacy and Laundry Days.
The LaundryCares Foundation currently serves 350,000 children annually and aims to reach one million children and families with its programs. Early literacy initiatives are crucial for setting children up for success in school and beyond. Officials stated that Vooks will be rolled out across participating locations in the coming weeks.
