Live coverage of Sunday’s 50-kilometer Ski Classics race was briefly interrupted by a power outage.

Viewers experienced over 20 minutes of black screen in Jizerska, Czech Republic, as the broadcast switched between replays and static shots of the snow-covered landscape.

When the broadcast resumed, Stina Nilsson was leading the pack, maintaining that position until the final stretch.

However, a strong group of five competitors, including Swede Hanna Lodin, 26, were closing in, setting up a dramatic sprint for the finish.

In a photo finish, Norwegian skier Anikken Gjerde Alnäs edged out Lodin for the victory by a mere fraction of a second.

“She skied sensationally well,” Blomquist reiterated.

Nilsson ultimately faded in the final sprint, finishing fourth.

Myhlback’s Frustration

In the men’s race, 19-year-old Alvar Myhlback was considered Sweden’s top contender, having won the sprint event on Friday.

But the young star was unable to reach the podium in Sunday’s long-distance race.

Norway’s Amund Riege dominated the field, finishing ahead of Kasper Stadås and Ole Jörgen Bruvoll.

A visibly frustrated Myhlback reacted by slamming his pole into the finish-line gate.

“It’s a very disappointed Alvar Myhlback,” Blomquist commented.

Myhlback has already been selected for the Swedish Olympic team.
