A strong showing from Japanese golfers is delighting local fans and could significantly impact the LPGA Tour’s season standings.

Sayaka Takahashi, Ai Suzuki, and Shuri Sakuma – all representing Japan – are closely trailing, only two strokes off the lead with scores of 67, 67, and 66 respectively. Defending champion Rio Takeda is currently nine shots behind the leaders after a second-round 69. Australian Minjee Lee, a prominent figure in the field, struggled with a 1-over 73 and sits eight shots back. The tournament is known for its challenging course and attracts some of the world’s top female golfers, as detailed by Golf Digest.

Play will continue tomorrow with the final two rounds, as Hataoka and Shin aim to maintain their position at the top of the leaderboard and secure the prestigious Toto Japan Classic title.
