Greene County Announces Unofficial Election Results

Unofficial results from yesterday’s election in Greene County, Iowa, show voters have selected new representatives for the Greene County School Board and city councils in Jefferson, Grand Junction, and Scranton.

Megan Holz led the race for the Greene County School Board with 21.26 percent of the vote, followed by Cindi Daubendiek at 20.88 percent and Katie Nelson with 20.24 percent. In Jefferson, Luke Winkelman received 866 votes, with Darren Jackson garnering 565 and Harry Ahrenholtz receiving 551 for the three available city council seats. These new council members will play a key role in shaping local policies and budgets.

Grand Junction voters elected Zachary Dearborn, Bryce Stevens, and John Thompson to their city council, while Annette Brown and Brenna Vauble were chosen to serve on the Scranton City Council. Overall voter turnout was 33.71 percent, slightly lower than the 35.77 percent recorded in the last city/school election in 2023. For a comprehensive look at the results, see the full unofficial results from the Greene County Auditor’s Office.

The results remain unofficial pending a two-tier canvass by the Greene County Board of Supervisors in the coming weeks, a standard procedure to verify the accuracy of the vote count. Information on Iowa election procedures is available from the Iowa Secretary of State’s office.
