Idaho State Defeats Sacramento State 3-0 in Women’s Soccer Match

Idaho State secured a 3-0 victory over Sacramento State yesterday afternoon at Davis Field in Pocatello, Idaho, ending the Hornets’ four-match unbeaten run in the series.

The match remained scoreless through the first half, but the Bengals found their rhythm in the second, with Samantha Fenske opening the scoring in the 56th minute. Stephanie Roper extended the lead just seven minutes later with a solo effort, and Lacie Poll added a final goal in the 82nd minute to seal the win. Sacramento State managed 13 total shot attempts, with seven on goal, but were unable to convert.

Sacramento State junior Ellie Farber led all players with six shot attempts, four of which were on target, tying her career high for total attempts and setting a new personal best for shots on goal. Idaho State finished with a 16-13 shot advantage overall, dominating the second half with a 14-7 margin. This loss impacts Sacramento State’s standing in the Big Sky Conference standings.

Sacramento State will continue their road trip on Sunday, October 12th, with an 11 a.m. PT match against Weber State in Ogden, Utah. The Hornets will look to rebound from this defeat as they navigate a challenging schedule in the NCAA Women’s Soccer landscape.
