Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo is responding to recent fulfillment delays with a new “fast crowdfunding” format slated for launch in February. The move follows criticism regarding shipping timelines, moast recently highlighted by delays with the Ayaneo Pocket AIR Mini gaming handheld as reported by Android Authority. According to the company, the changes stem from a technological transition following its acquisition by board game-focused crowdfunding company GameFound [[1]].

Indiegogo is planning to launch a new “fast crowdfunding” format, addressing recent delays experienced by creators using the platform. The move comes as crowdfunding platforms continue to refine their processes to better serve both project backers and the innovators seeking funding.

According to Indiegogo spokesperson Maciej Kuc, the shift is a result of the company’s recent transition under new ownership by GameFound, a crowdfunding company specializing in board games:

“Transitioning to a completely new technology stack is always a significant challenge. The technology Indiegogo is currently exploring was originally built for GameFound—a slightly more ‘typical’ crowdfunding platform. Its core premise is that creators launch a campaign to raise funds to bring a product to life. The technology estimates that there’s at least a two-week gap between the crowdfunding campaign and the pledge management phase—when orders are finalized, new orders are added, and shipping addresses are collected.”

Recent delays with the Ayaneo Pocket AIR Mini, a retro gaming handheld, highlighted issues with the current system, as reported by Android Authority. The Aionio-led campaign for the Pocket AIR Mini was originally slated to begin shipping in November, but the company stated in an update that “platform policy requirements” would delay address collection until December 5. Specifically, Aionio explained that the campaign couldn’t enter the pledge management phase—requiring roughly three days for review—until December 2, pushing the estimated shipping start date to “around” December 10.

Kuc indicated that Indiegogo’s new fast crowdfunding mode “should be rolling out in early February.”
