As winter approaches, the Kharkiv region of Ukraine continues to face a dual threat: ongoing Russian military action and hazardous weather conditions. Today’s reports detail continued clashes along multiple fronts, and also a dense fog warning impacting travel and daily life. These compounding challenges underscore the ongoing reality for civilians in the area, nearly two years into the full-scale invasion, and come as Ukrainian forces reportedly make limited gains in the Kupiansk area.

Ukrainian Forces Likely Made Gains Near Borove, Analysts Say

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported Wednesday that Ukrainian troops have likely made limited advances in the Borove area of the Kharkiv region.

Geolocated footage shows Russian forces shelling Ukrainian positions east of Kurylivka, a settlement previously held by Russian troops. The ISW noted that this does not represent a change to the frontline. “Assessment of Russian penetrations: Videos published on November 24 show Ukrainian servicemen striking Russian positions in wooded areas along the T-21-04 Volchansk-Chuhuiv highway southeast of Synelnykove. ISW assesses that this did not alter the front line of the combat zone,” the institute stated.

Analysts also believe Ukrainian forces may have made minor gains in the Borove direction. “Geolocation footage published on November 26 indicates that Ukrainian forces recently held forward positions in central Bohuslavka (north of Borove) – an area where Russian sources previously reported a Russian presence,” the ISW added.
