In spring 2015, Dialogai opened Le Refuge Genève. Even today, a lack of acceptance of homosexuality and transgender identity can sometimes break social or family ties, leading to exclusion for young people. To meet the needs of struggling LGBTQ+ youth and ensure the long-term viability of Le Refuge Genève, Dialogai is seeking:
Individual social support for beneficiaries
- Welcome LGBTQ+ youth and those questioning their identity who are facing social difficulties, providing support and guidance.
- Support residents in their daily lives – including medical, vocational, administrative and legal matters – in collaboration with the educational team.
- Facilitate family mediation and provide parental support.
- Promote dialogue in all aspects of beneficiaries’ lives – school, function, and social settings.
- Prevent suicide risk and promote overall well-being.
- Evaluate accommodation requests in accordance with the admission protocol.
- Maintain a regular presence at the Le Refuge Genève site during opening hours.
- Conduct individual interviews and follow up with young people.
Collective work for beneficiaries
- Strengthen the provision of collective space aimed at restoring self-esteem.
Collaboration and networking
- Collaborate with all stakeholders (schools, professionals, social and medical services) regarding a particular situation.
- Intervene in schools, social services, professional settings, and other institutions to prevent situations of homophobia and transphobia and address follow-up requests.
- Represent Le Refuge Genève at internal and external events.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships necessary for the organization’s mission.
Internal responsibilities
- Collect social work data quantitatively and qualitatively.
- Participate in the weekly team meeting.
- Ensure proper leverage and maintenance of premises and equipment belonging to or made available to the association.
- Participate in the annual project review.
Requirements
- Only candidates with a HETS diploma will be considered.
- Knowledge and interest in LGBTQ+ issues.
- Excellent knowledge of the social services system in Geneva and the Vaud region.
- Strong organizational skills, independence, dynamism, and creativity.
- Valid work permit.
