Bandung, Indonesia – A court in Bandung, West Java, has rejected a lawsuit filed by Lisa Mariana against former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil concerning the legal identification of her child. The decision, made by the Bandung District Court on Monday, December 8th, dismissed all claims presented by Mariana.

The court found the evidence supporting Mariana’s claims, including requests for DNA testing to establish parentage, to be insufficient.

Following the ruling, Lisa Mariana’s legal counsel, Markus Nababan, announced his firm would no longer represent her.

Nababan explained that his representation concluded with the court’s decision and that the firm would not participate if Mariana chooses to appeal. “From our side, we are finalizing things after this ruling. If Ms. Lisa Mariana wants to pursue other legal avenues, she is free to do so, but we will not be involved in an appeal,” Nababan said Thursday, December 11th, in Jakarta.

Nababan advised Mariana to accept the court’s decision, stating that none of her claims were accepted. “I advise her to just accept it because none of her claims were successful. What else can be done?” he added.

Nababan stated he had discussed the outcome with Mariana, but her response was unclear, as she is currently involved in other legal matters. “Her response may not be focused because she is dealing with problems everywhere. That is likely a personal matter for her,” he said.

The case underscores the complexities surrounding parental rights and legal identification in Indonesia.
