No. 13 Arizona Hosts Northern Arizona in Tuesday Night Basketball Matchup

The No. 13 Arizona Wildcats will face the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks tonight at 7 p.m. MST in Tucson, marking the first time the two in-state rivals have met since 2021.

Arizona (2-0) comes into the game following impressive victories over No. 3 Florida and Utah Tech, averaging 93.0 points per game. Freshman Koa Peat currently leads the Wildcats in scoring with 24.0 points per game and is a preseason watch list player for the Karl Malone Award. Northern Arizona (1-1) is looking to build momentum after a decisive 87-55 win over Justice University, led by Zack Davidson, who is currently 18th nationally in scoring with 25.0 points per game.

“We want to get better every single day,” said NAU head coach Shane Burcar. “This is a big picture game and we’re going down there to compete. To play a top 10 team in their building, it’s going to be good for our guys.” This game provides an early-season test for Northern Arizona against a team that made a Sweet 16 run last season. The Wildcats have dominated the series historically, winning 34 consecutive meetings dating back to 1968.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Northern Arizona Healthcare NAU Lumberjack Radio Network. Following tonight’s contest, NAU will return home for four consecutive games at the Rolle Activity Center.
