Celebrated Egyptian actor Mahmoud Hamida was briefly hospitalized late Thursday following a health issue, prompting concern among fans and industry colleagues. Actress Ilham Shahin reported Hamida underwent testing and is expected to recover, with a potential discharge after Friday prayers, though the specific nature of the illness has not been disclosed. Despite the health scare, the award-winning actor, currently starring in the critically acclaimed film “Shakwa Raqm 713317,” remains committed to upcoming projects including the Ramadan 2026 series “Farasa Akhira.”


Veteran actor Mahmoud Hamida is recovering well after a health scare that led to his hospitalization late Thursday, December 22nd, according to actress Ilham Shahin. Shahin told local media that Hamida underwent a series of tests and is expected to be discharged from the hospital after Friday prayers.


The celebrated actor was admitted to the hospital after experiencing a sudden health issue following midnight on Thursday. Details surrounding the specific nature of the illness have not been released.


Despite the health setback, Mahmoud Hamida remains committed to his upcoming projects, including a leading role in the Ramadan 2026 series, “Farasa Akhira” (Last Chance).

“Farasa Akhira” features a story by Amin Gamal, with a screenplay and dialogue penned by Mahmoud Ezat. The series is being produced by United Studios, with overall supervision by Dina Karim. The 15-episode drama will see Hamida portray a judge whose life is dramatically altered by a significant event, setting the stage for a compelling narrative.


Hamida recently appeared in the Ramadan drama “Wlad El Shams” (Sons of the Sun), alongside Ahmed Malek and Taha Desouky. The series also featured Marium Al-Gendy, Moataz Hisham, Donia Maher, and Mina Abu El-Dehab, and was directed by Shadi Abdel Salam.

Mahmoud Hamida also showcased his talent at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival with his performance in “Shakwa Raqm 713317” (Complaint No. 713317), directed by Yasser Shafie. The film stars Hamida alongside Sherine, Hana Shiha, and Jehad Hossam El Din.


The film centers on a retired couple, Magdy and Sama, whose quiet life in their Maadi apartment is disrupted by a broken refrigerator. What begins as a simple appliance issue escalates into a frustrating bureaucratic battle with a questionable maintenance company. As the situation worsens, deeper layers of their relationship and daily lives are revealed, turning a household problem into a reflection of hidden cracks in their marriage.
