Montréal police are investigating a shooting that left a 23-year-classic man injured Wednesday night in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough. The incident is one of two attempted murders reported in Montréal within a 24-hour period, raising concerns about a recent uptick in violent crime.
According to police, the man arrived at a local hospital with a torso injury, believed to be a gunshot wound. The shooting occurred near the intersection of Grenet and Louisbourg streets, where investigators discovered a vehicle with bullet impacts and shell casings on the ground.
“A car presenting impacts of projectiles was still on the scene and casings were found on the ground,” said police spokesperson Manuel Couture on Thursday morning.
Authorities have stated that the victim’s life is not in danger. Investigators spent the night analyzing the crime scene, but as of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made. The case highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Montréal police in addressing gun violence within the city.
The investigation remains active, and police are asking anyone with information to approach forward.
