Malaysia’s MyBayar PDRM App Now Requires MyDigital ID for Access

The Royal Malaysia Police’s MyBayar PDRM mobile application is now exclusively accessible through the national MyDigital ID platform, requiring users to authenticate with the digital identification system to check and pay traffic summonses and access other features.

The transition, completed today, follows earlier announcements regarding the phasing out of legacy login systems for both MyBayar PDRM and the MyJPJ mobile app in favor of MyDigital ID. While MyBayar PDRM has fully implemented the change, MyJPJ currently supports both login methods but is expected to follow suit soon. This move aims to streamline government services and enhance security for citizens accessing sensitive information.

Government officials have indicated further steps to encourage MyDigital ID adoption, including consideration of a dedicated MyDigital ID Act that could formalize its usage and potentially make registration mandatory. Beyond police and transport matters, the Communications Ministry recently announced that prepaid SIM card registrations will require MyDigital ID by the end of the year, and CTOS Digital Berhad has partnered with the platform to improve its electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) processes. Officials confirmed that the move to MyDigital ID is part of a broader initiative to create a more secure and efficient digital ecosystem for Malaysians, and further announcements regarding the MyDigital ID Act are expected in the coming months.

This development follows earlier announcements that both MyBayar PDRM and the MyJPJ mobile app would gradually phase out legacy login systems in favour of MyDigital ID. While MyBayar PDRM has now completed the transition, MyJPJ is still in the dual-login stage but is expected to follow suit soon.

The government has also indicated it may take further steps to accelerate MyDigital ID adoption. In July, officials confirmed that a dedicated MyDigital ID Act was being considered to formalise usage and possibly make registration mandatory.

Beyond government platforms, more services are integrating the national digital identification system. The Communications Ministry recently announced that prepaid SIM card registrations will be tied to MyDigital ID by the end of the year, while CTOS Digital Berhad recently became the first credit reporting agency to partner with the platform to strengthen its eKYC processes.
