Giants Prospect Parks Harber Shines in Arizona Fall League
Scottsdale, Ariz. – San Francisco Giants prospect Parks Harber is rapidly turning heads in the Arizona Fall League, currently ranking among the league leaders in hitting as he continues to prove his value after going undrafted twice.
Through 12 games with the Scottsdale Scorpions, the 24-year-old Harber boasts a .400 batting average, .547 on-base percentage, and .775 slugging percentage, with three home runs and 10 RBIs. He added two more hits yesterday, including his sixth double, tying him for the AFL lead in that category. “I always have a little chip on my shoulder but you need to continuously put yourself in good positions,” Harber said. “That comes from a lot of hard work and trying to take it day-by-day and at-bat-by-at-bat.”
Harber’s path to this point has been unconventional; after a standout career at Georgia and North Carolina – where he combined for 38 home runs in two seasons – he signed with the New York Yankees as a non-drafted free agent in 2024. He was later acquired by the Giants as part of the trade for closer Camilo Doval. His strong performance in the Fall League could accelerate his path to the majors, addressing a potential need for offensive depth in the Giants lineup. He credits an adjustment to handling high-velocity pitching as key to his recent success. “Just being able to handle velocity,” Harber explained. “Everybody is throwing 97-98 [mph], so you have to be able to handle that and make swing decisions, put yourself in good counts.”
Despite being overlooked in the draft on two occasions, Harber remains motivated. He finished the regular season with a .914 OPS between Single-A Tampa and High-A Hudson Valley, and continued to excel with a .333 average and over a 1.000 OPS in 25 games for High-A Eugene. Harber’s teammate, Kevin McGonigle, a top Detroit Tigers prospect, also ranks highly in offensive statistics, further highlighting the league’s competitive environment.
Giants officials have expressed satisfaction with Harber’s progress and are eager to see how he continues to perform throughout the remainder of the Arizona Fall League season.
