Bethune-Cookman Defeats Florida A&M in Volleyball Matchup
Bethune-Cookman secured a 3-1 victory over Florida A&M Wednesday night at the Richard V. Moore Gymnasium in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Rattlers put up a strong fight, but ultimately fell to their in-state rivals despite a standout performance from Ladonna Trantham, who recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs. Iyonnie Sanford contributed 10 kills to the offense, while Victoria Santana led the defense with 24 digs and Tamia Coleman added four blocks. Bengisu Kazazlar assisted with a team-high 20 assists.
Florida A&M demonstrated resilience, winning the third set 25-23 after establishing an early 13-6 lead, but Bethune-Cookman proved too strong in the first, second, and fourth sets, winning 25-11, 25-22, and 25-18 respectively. This match is part of a larger rivalry within the Southwestern Athletic Conference, where both teams are striving for playoff contention.
