KPop Demon Hunters Sequel Possible, Says Star Rei Ami

Rapper Rei Ami, who voiced and provided music for the character Zoey in Netflix’s hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters, has indicated she is awaiting confirmation regarding a potential sequel.

Speaking on the red carpet at Heidi Klum’s Halloween bash yesterday, Ami stated, “I’m waiting for the call, just like you! You’re gonna find out when I do, so we’ll chat then.” She was dressed as Zoey from the film’s opening scene. The film’s unexpected success has sparked widespread fan demand for a continuation of the story.

Ami also expressed her surprise at the film’s cultural impact, noting its ubiquity in children’s Halloween costumes. “It’s everywhere, I can’t get a break from it, oh my goodness … And I’m not complaining, please! I wanna see more,” she said. The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack has matched records set by artists like Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles, and the film itself became Netflix’s most popular film release to date – a significant achievement for animated features on the platform.

Alongside Ami, Audrey Nuna and Ejae contributed vocals for the fictional group Huntr/x, who recently made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live performing their chart-topping hit “Golden.” You can learn more about the film’s original soundtrack here.

Representatives for Netflix have not yet commented on plans for a sequel, but are reportedly evaluating the possibility given the film’s unprecedented success.
