Capcom is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil franchise with a series of announcements, including a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan and a new arcade game. The celebrations officially begin on March 22, 2026.

The company revealed plans for a large-scale project with Universal Studios Japan that will immerse fans in the world of the game, slated for release in 2026. This collaboration underscores the growing trend of video game intellectual property expanding into immersive entertainment experiences.

Capcom announced Resident Evil 2: Arcade, a new light-gun arcade game based on Resident Evil 2. The game will feature air blasts and floor vibration technology to enhance the immersive experience of battling zombies.

Fans can also experience “Symphony of Legacy,” a worldwide tour celebrating the anniversary, with tickets currently available on the official website.

These announcements follow positive reviews for Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline title in the series, after its recent launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game has received “excellent technical analysis” on the Switch 2, according to reports, and has already achieved initial sales figures of 5 million units.

The news comes after Capcom expressed dissatisfaction with the early availability of full copies of Resident Evil Requiem prior to its official release and announced measures to address the issue.
