Tesla Model Y Reclaims Top EV Sales Spot in Europe for September

The Tesla Model Y has regained the title of best-selling electric vehicle in Europe for the month of September, surpassing key competitors in a fiercely contested market.

Sales of the Model Y reached 25,938 units in September, according to Automotive News, despite an 8.6 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2024. This marks the Model Y’s first monthly sales crown in Europe this year, though it remains outside the top three EVs year-to-date, a position currently held by the Dacia Sandero, Renault Clio, and Volkswagen T-Roc. The resurgence highlights Tesla’s continued strength even as more affordable EV options emerge from European and Chinese manufacturers.

While the Model Y faces significant competition, particularly in China and Europe, its popularity extends globally. It has consistently dominated EV sales charts in the United States and remains a top contender in China due to its premium features and advanced technology. Tesla recently reported its best three-month sales period in company history, delivering nearly half a million vehicles between July and September, demonstrating strong overall demand. The Model Y has been the world’s best-selling car for the past two years, outpacing both gasoline and electric models. This latest sales data suggests Tesla is poised to remain a leading automotive force, and the increased competition is driving innovation across the industry.

Tesla officials have not yet commented on the September sales figures but are expected to provide further insights during their next earnings call.
