Dutch midfielder Thom haye is quickly adjusting to life in Indonesia’s Liga 1 following his recent transfer to Persib Bandung. The 30-year-old,who spent over a decade playing in the Eredivisie,represents a growing trend of European footballers drawn to the expanding Indonesian league. Haye recently shared his positive first impressions of bandung,offering insights into his experience settling into a new country and club.

Thom Haye is settling into life with Persib Bandung after making the move from the Dutch leagues earlier this season. The midfielder expressed his enjoyment of both his new career path and his surroundings in Bandung.
Haye spent 13 years building his professional career in the Netherlands, beginning in 2012. Throughout his time in the Eredivisie and other Dutch leagues, he played for AZ Alkmaar, Willem II, ADO Den Haag, NAC Breda, Heerenveen, and Almere City.
He also spent a season abroad in 2018, competing in Serie B with Lecce in Italy, before returning to continue his career in the Netherlands.

Now 30 years old, Haye opted for a new challenge, joining Persib after his contract with Almere City expired.
“I really like Bandung. I think the area is very nice, with a lot of green spaces,” Thom Haye said on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
“I think one of the most beautiful things about this city is that you have the atmosphere of a city, but all around you there are mountain views. So, I think that’s really great,” he added.

Currently, Haye is staying in a hotel in Bandung while awaiting renovations to a house provided by Persib.
The biggest difference between life in Bandung and the Netherlands, according to Haye, is being away from his family. He has not yet brought his family to join him in Indonesia.
“My house is almost finished. It’s still under renovation. So I’m still staying at a hotel for the last few months,” Haye explained.
“So I’m also looking forward to that so I can really settle in. So far, everything is going well. I like the city,” he concluded.
