Jaguars Rookie Travis Hunter to Miss Remainder of Season with Knee Injury
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter will miss the rest of the 2025 NFL season after successfully undergoing surgery today to repair the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.
The surgery was performed in Dallas by Dr. Dan Cooper and Jaguars team physician Dr. Kevin Kaplan. The team announced that no additional damage was found during the procedure and Hunter is projected to be able to resume full football activities within six months. Hunter sustained the non-contact injury during practice on October 31st and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. Initial MRI results confirmed his ACL was intact, but further testing revealed the LCL damage.
Prior to the injury, Hunter was demonstrating significant potential, highlighted by a career game in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams where he recorded eight receptions for 104 yards and his first NFL touchdown. He finished the season with 28 catches for 298 yards and one touchdown, along with 15 tackles and three pass breakups, playing a key role on both offense and defense. The loss of Hunter significantly impacts the Jaguars’ receiving corps, which has also been affected by injuries to Brian Thomas Jr. and Dyami Brown; the team recently acquired Jakobi Meyers from the Las Vegas Raiders to address the need.
The Jaguars invested heavily in Hunter, trading four draft picks – including a first-round selection in 2026 – to the Cleveland Browns to move up and select him second overall in the draft. The team expects a full recovery and return to form for the highly touted prospect. Jacksonville will next host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
