A 50-year-old man is facing eviction proceedings after a significant reduction in salary left him unable to keep up with rent payments on his family home. Abu Haiman now owes approximately $13,000 in back rent following a workplace restructuring in late 2022, a situation highlighting the increasing financial strain on families amid broader economic challenges. the case, reported by Emirates Today, details Haiman’s decades-long career in the private sector and his desperate plea for assistance to avoid displacement for himself, his wife, and their seven children.
A man is facing legal action over unpaid rent as mounting debts have left him unable to provide for his family. Abu Haiman, 50, owes approximately $13,000 in back rent on his home, a situation stemming from a reduction in his income and increasing financial obligations.
The case underscores the growing financial pressures faced by families amid economic uncertainty.
Abu Haiman, who has worked in the private sector since 1988, previously earned a monthly salary of $2,177. He said he had been able to maintain a stable life for his family, covering housing, food, and education expenses without difficulty.
“In October 2022, my employer sent a text message to all employees announcing a restructuring plan,” Abu Haiman said. “This led to the termination of many workers and salary reductions for others. My salary was reduced to $1,089.”
He explained that the decrease in income quickly led to accumulating debt and increased living expenses. “I found myself under immense financial pressure that I hadn’t anticipated,” he said. “Since my income dropped, I’ve been unable to balance the family budget and provide basic necessities for my family of seven children and my wife, who is a homemaker.”
Over the past several years, Abu Haiman said he spent his savings repaying a bank loan, covering his children’s school fees, and paying rent. “In 2024, I became completely unable to pay the outstanding rent, which has reached $13,000 over the past two years,” he said. The landlord subsequently filed a lawsuit to recover the debt.
Abu Haiman said he attempted to explain his circumstances to the landlord, but the landlord insisted on full payment.
He is now appealing to charitable individuals and organizations for assistance in settling the debt, hoping to resolve the legal issue and restore stability for his family. “I implore those with kind hearts to help me pay off the amount owed so I can resolve this rental dispute and maintain the stability of my family, and overcome this difficult crisis,” he said.
