In a quiet moment that quickly captured the attention of thousands online, a future doctor from Pakistan living in Lithuania shared a simple yet powerful exchange with a taxi driver in Vilnius that has since gone viral across social media.

The conversation, recorded and shared by Sidra, a medical student who has lived in Lithuania for six years, began with a routine question about travel but soon turned into a meaningful dialogue about language, identity, and belonging.

When Sidra asked the driver which countries he had visited, he mentioned Kazakhstan, Poland, and Turkey. He then turned the question back to her, asking if she spoke Russian.

Her response was clear and deliberate: she does not speak Russian, choosing instead to communicate in Lithuanian, despite acknowledging how difficult the language is to learn.

“No, I don’t speak Russian. I speak only Lithuanian and I’m still learning it. It’s a very hard language,” she said in the recording.

The driver, who is also a foreigner living in Lithuania, revealed that he has resided in the country for 40 years and feels at home there.

“I’ve lived here for 40 years, and to me, this place feels like my hometown. I really like living in Vilnius,” he said.

Sidra, for her part, made her feelings about Lithuania equally clear.

“I don’t realize yet, but I want to live and work here. I like Lithuania,” she stated.

The brief but heartfelt interaction resonated widely online, drawing praise for its authenticity and the mutual respect shown between two individuals navigating life in a country not their own.

The video continues to circulate on platforms such as Facebook and Delfi, where viewers have highlighted the rarity and sincerity of such exchanges in everyday life.
