Thai authorities arrested a mother and son on April 24, 2026, for allegedly operating a front company used to launder more than 4 billion baht through cryptocurrency transactions linked to a Chinese criminal network.

The pair — identified as 20-year-old Suppamasak and 51-year-old Parichat — were taken into custody at their residence in Khian Sa district following a coordinated operation led by the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) and supported by U.S. Homeland security officials.

Police said the suspects were apprehended under warrants issued by the Udon Thani Provincial Court on August 19, 2025, facing charges including supporting fraud through deceit, introducing false data into computer systems likely to cause harm to others and permitting others to use their bank accounts.

According to investigators, the alleged scheme involved setting up a shell business to facilitate cross-border money laundering, with funds moved via digital assets to conceal their origin. Authorities stated the operation processed over 4 billion baht in illicit transactions.

The case underscores growing international efforts to combat cyber-enabled financial crime, particularly those exploiting cryptocurrency platforms to obscure illicit flows. Thai police emphasized collaboration with foreign agencies was critical to the breakthrough.
