Wilmington Walk to End Alzheimer’s Set for November 1st

The Alzheimer’s Association will host its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Wilmington, North Carolina, on November 1st, aiming to raise awareness and funds for research and support for those affected by the disease.

The event will take place at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), with check-in beginning at 9 a.m., followed by an opening ceremony at 10 a.m., and the walk immediately after. Funds raised support vital research into disease prevention and treatment, as well as providing care and support for individuals and families currently navigating an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said Christine John-Fuller, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association – Eastern North Carolina Chapter. “There are now treatments that change the course of the disease. We hope that everyone in our community can join us by starting a team to help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness and funds for families facing the disease today, take more steps toward treatments and finally ending this disease.” More information about support services is available on the Alzheimer’s Association website.

Those interested in participating as walkers, team captains, sponsors, or volunteers can register at act.alz.org/WilmingtonNC or by calling 800-272-3900. Officials encourage early registration to ensure participation in this important community event.
