Worthington Artist Kelly Henkels to Showcase Work at Marshall Gallery
Marshall, MN – Artist Kelly Henkels of Worthington will exhibit her artwork, titled “Scattered Presence,” at the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council (SMAC) Gallery beginning November 6th.
An opening reception and open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on November 6th at the gallery, located at 509 W. Main St. in Marshall. The exhibit will be on display through December 19th, during regular gallery hours of 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The public is invited to both view Henkels’ work and participate in a hands-on art activity during the open house, making it an event for all ages.
Henkels, who holds an Art Education degree and teaches art classes, has been creating art in various mediums – including printmaking, painting, and sewing – for much of her life. She has participated in numerous art shows, including three solo exhibitions. “I have been creating for as long as I can remember, doing many different types of art,” Henkels said. A virtual artist talk with Henkels is scheduled for December 4th at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom; those interested in attending can request the link by emailing info@swmnarts.org. Supporting local artists like Henkels helps foster a vibrant cultural landscape in southwestern Minnesota.
Gallery officials stated that the exhibit offers a unique opportunity for the community to engage with contemporary art. Further information about SMAC Gallery and upcoming events can be found on the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council website.
