$75,000 Reward Offered in Unsolved South Los Angeles Double Murder

A $75,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the deaths of two men in South Los Angeles nearly two years ago.

The victims, identified as 24-year-old Carlos Sanchez and 30-year-old Jose Perez, were found fatally shot on January 14, 2024, in the 600 block of East 47th Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered the two men near a parked vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are hoping this reward will encourage anyone with information to come forward,” said a representative from the LAPD during a press conference today. “Even the smallest detail could be crucial to solving this case and bringing justice to the families.” Investigators believe the shooting may have been gang-related, though the motive remains unconfirmed. The families of Sanchez and Perez are understandably devastated and continue to seek closure; unsolved homicides can have lasting trauma on communities.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide Unit at 323-890-5500. Tipsters can also submit information anonymously through LAPD Online or by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Authorities stated that the reward will remain active until the case is resolved and a suspect is brought to justice.
