A64 & A63 Blocked: Farmers’ Protests Disrupt SW France Traffic – Dec 14, 2025

Widespread farmer protests are continuing to disrupt travel across southwestern France as of Sunday evening, impacting major roadways adn creating uncertainty for holiday travelers. Demonstrations, now in their third day, centre on concerns over income, government agricultural policies, and the rising cost of fuel [[1]]. Autoroute closures and restrictions are currently in effect, with Vinci Autoroutes reporting important delays between Toulouse and Bayonne, and potential spillover effects into Spain.

Farmers in southwestern France are continuing widespread protests, disrupting traffic on major roadways as of Sunday evening, December 14, 2025. The ongoing demonstrations are causing significant travel delays and uncertainty for motorists heading into the week. The A64 autoroute remains closed to traffic, and disruptions are expected to continue on the A63 toward Spain.

Vinci Autoroutes reported that the southwestern French road network remains “very strongly perturbed” between Toulouse and Bayonne. The A64 is closed in both directions between Montréjeau (exit 17) and Briscous (exit 3), as well as the A645 connector. On the A63, near the border crossing at Biriatou, travelers should anticipate possible disruptions through Monday morning.

Current Road Closures and Restrictions

  • The A64 autoroute is closed in sections between Toulouse and Bayonne. Trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons are prohibited from traveling in either direction. The A64 is fully closed between the Briscous (exit 3) and Montréjeau (exit 17) interchanges.
  • The A645 connector leading to Spain is also closed. Motorists are being directed to exit onto the D 817 (exit 2) to reach Spain. Access to the A645 from Croix du Bazert (exit 1) is prohibited for those traveling toward Toulouse and Bayonne.
