Apple Watch Users Can Earn Special Badge for World Mental Health Day

Apple Watch users can unlock a limited-edition badge today by recording a 10-minute mindful activity, encouraging users to prioritize their mental wellbeing.

To earn the badge, users need to log at least 10 minutes of mindfulness using any app that integrates with the Apple Health app. Options include guided meditations through Apple Fitness+, or popular wellbeing apps like Headspace and Calm. The challenge coincides with World Mental Health Day, an annual global event aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues.

Once the 10-minute session is completed, the badge will appear on the user’s Apple Watch, and animated stickers are also available within the Messages app to commemorate the day. Users can choose from static meditations or mindful walks to achieve the required time. Increased awareness of mental health is crucial, as rates of anxiety and depression continue to rise globally.

The badge serves as a reminder to take time for self-care and focus on the present moment, potentially reducing stress and anxiety. Apple officials stated the initiative is intended to promote proactive mental health practices among its user base.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and to mark the occasion, Apple Watch users can get a special limited edition badge by logging a mindful activity.

It’s never a bad idea to meditate or practice mindfulness — the benefits for your overall wellbeing of taking some time out to do so are well established and include reduced stress and anxiety.

Today is an especially good time to do it, because you get those benefits plus a special Apple Watch badge.

To get the award you need to log 10 mindful minutes on your Apple Watch, which you can do with any app that links up with the Apple Health app.

For example, I earned my award by doing a 20-minute sound meditation with Christian through Apple Fitness+, and I felt a lot better for it.

You can use some of the best Apple Watch apps for wellbeing for the session, with Headspace and Calm being two excellent mindfulness apps with guided sessions to help you find a moment of peace.

Once you’ve completed your session the badge will pop up on your Apple Watch, and there are also some animated stickers that are available in the Messages app to celebrate World Mental Health Day.

I opted for a static meditation session, but many people find it easier to be mindful on the move, and if so trying a mindful walk could be a great way to log your 10 minutes today.

Of course, it’s not really about the badge, but the Apple Watch award is a useful prompt to take some time for yourself today and focus on the present in a bid to reduce any stress or anxiety you’re feeling.
