Entrepreneurs in Upper Austria are demonstrating increasing confidence in the regional economy, with a reported rise in new business ventures. The Upper Austrian Chamber of commerce announced today a slight increase in startups established in the Perg district in 2025, continuing a trend of growth seen across the state. This positive development signals ongoing economic resilience and a willingness to invest in the future, supported by resources like the Chamber’s founder service and upcoming Founding Day event on March 24th in Linz.
Austrian Business Chamber Reports Increase in New Businesses for 2025
PERG DISTRICT – A surge in entrepreneurial activity is being reported in the Perg district, with 267 new businesses established and 19 existing businesses changing ownership last year, according to officials with the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce. This represents a slight increase from 2024, which saw 263 new businesses and 20 acquisitions.
The majority of these new ventures were in the trade and crafts sector, with 105 startups, followed by commerce (102) and information and consulting services (41). Additional businesses were founded in tourism and leisure (11) and transport and logistics (8).
Statewide Growth
Across the state of Upper Austria, 6,338 commercial enterprises were newly founded in the past year, a 10.6 percent increase from the 5,730 startups recorded in 2024. In addition to new businesses, 618 companies were acquired, a slight decrease of 2.4 percent from the 633 acquisitions the previous year.
Support for Entrepreneurs
“It’s not just about the number of startups, but ensuring their long-term success and performance in the market, whether they’re side ventures or full-fledged startups,” said Doris Hummer, President of the Upper Austrian Economic Chamber. “Every new business contributes to the strength of Upper Austria’s economy.” The Chamber’s founder service provides free consultations, workshops, and planning tools, with more than 10,000 consultations conducted in 2025.
The increase in new businesses signals a growing confidence in the regional economy and a willingness to take risks among entrepreneurs.
