PERG DISTRICT – A surge in entrepreneurial activity is being reported in the Perg district, with 267 new businesses established and 19 existing businesses changing ownership last year, according to officials with the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce. This represents a slight increase from 2024, which saw 263 new businesses and 20 acquisitions.

Statewide Growth

Across the state of Upper Austria, 6,338 commercial enterprises were newly founded in the past year, a 10.6 percent increase from the 5,730 startups recorded in 2024. In addition to new businesses, 618 companies were acquired, a slight decrease of 2.4 percent from the 633 acquisitions the previous year.

Support for Entrepreneurs

“It’s not just about the number of startups, but ensuring their long-term success and performance in the market, whether they’re side ventures or full-fledged startups,” said Doris Hummer, President of the Upper Austrian Economic Chamber. “Every new business contributes to the strength of Upper Austria’s economy.” The Chamber’s founder service provides free consultations, workshops, and planning tools, with more than 10,000 consultations conducted in 2025.

The increase in new businesses signals a growing confidence in the regional economy and a willingness to take risks among entrepreneurs.
