Pearl Abyss Deploys Major Update for Crimson Desert: New Special Mounts and Material Recovery Added

Pearl Abyss has released a significant update for Crimson Desert, deploying Patch Version 1.06.00 on May 11, 2026. The update introduces several highly anticipated gameplay mechanics, including a comprehensive new mount system and a resource recovery feature designed to streamline equipment management.

One of the most substantial additions is the Special Mounts system. Players can now register a wide variety of animals as mounts after establishing trust with them. The list of available special mounts includes Bears, Boars, Wolves, Deer, Mountain Goats, Kuku Birds, Iguanas, Raptors, Camels, Lions, and Tigers. The taming process varies by species; while ferocious animals can be subdued and fed to gain their trust, other species require unique taming methods. Feeding animals that are untamable will not impact their trust levels.

To support this new system, Pearl Abyss has updated the user interface with a dedicated special mounts tab in the inventory. The mount quickslot has also been modified to allow for the assignment of one standard mount and one special mount. Saddles—which are no longer part of the default appearance—can now be purchased at city saddleries and equipped via the special mounts tab.

In a move to improve player resource efficiency, the update introduces an “Extraction” function. This feature allows players to recover materials that were previously consumed during the refinement of equipment, though the quantity of recovered items will vary. This addition reflects a broader trend in open-world RPGs toward reducing player friction in high-level crafting and gear optimization.

The patch also includes several quality-of-life visual improvements, such as a new “Night Tone Mode” and a “Display Sheath” option for equipment. These updates are currently available across most platforms, including Steam (PC and Mac), PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store. The update for the Mac App Store is currently in progress and will be available at a later date.

Despite the new features, the update initially sparked some community debate regarding character aesthetics. According to early reports, some players expressed dissatisfaction over a perceived decrease in the exposure level of Demian’s miniskirt outfit. However, Pearl Abyss subsequently clarified that this change was the result of a bug rather than an intentional design adjustment.

By integrating more complex animal interactions and flexible resource management, this update signals Pearl Abyss’s commitment to deepening the immersive quality and player agency within the game’s ecosystem.
