Volta Region Stakeholders Call for Action to Unlock Economic Potential
Stakeholders in Ghana’s Volta Region are urging a shift from discussion to implementation following a forum focused on harnessing the region’s economic opportunities.
Yesterday, investors, government officials, and indigenes of the Volta Region convened at the Reddinton Beach Resort in Whuti for the Volta Economic Forum, dedicated to strategizing for growth and sustainable development. Discussions centered on leveraging the region’s natural resources, talent pool, and strategic location to generate opportunities, particularly for young people. This comes as Ghana seeks to diversify its economy and promote regional development.
Council of State Member for the Volta Region, Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, emphasized the need for concrete action. “It is my firm conviction that this should not be a talk-as-usual exercise. We need to be action-oriented and deliberate about translating ideas into tangible results that will uplift the lives of our people,” he stated in a recent post. The forum also highlighted recent developments like TDC Ghana securing land for a mixed-use development in the region.
The Volta Economic Forum is intended to spur renewed commitment to transforming the region’s economic landscape and fostering inclusive development, building on Ghana’s broader economic goals as outlined by the International Monetary Fund. Officials stated the forum is expected to serve as a catalyst for future collaboration and investment.
